Who we are

We are a group of people living in and around Newark-on-Trent who trust in Jesus Christ alone (not in our own goodness) for eternal salvation, and who in gratitude to God seek to serve Him and to be a blessing to others around us.

NEC is independent of any organised Christian denomination, acknowledging Christ alone as the Head of the Church. We enjoy fellowship with other evangelical churches in our region and are affiliated to the Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches (FIEC).

Meet the Teams

Every one of our events takes time, effort and a lot of for-thought to make it work. Behind each one is a team of dedicated church members. Meet the teams serving the church..

A Brief History

Newark Evangelical Church has been around for nearly 50 years, in one form or other. Starting out as a small group of Christian friends meeting in one home, they prayed for the Lord to increase their number and effect in the town.

Fast forward 40 years, and God had increased our number to the point we needed to consider a larger venue, or plant a new Church. Much prayer and time on God’s word led us to start a new fellowship in the south of the town - a fast growing area called Fernwood.

Today, Newark Evangelical Church and Fernwood Community Church are meeting regularly for Sunday Worship, holding multiple weekly activities for various demographics, and continue to witness in this beautiful and historical but spiritually needy town of Newark.
